Curated Archive of Fun Internet Tools

A searchable directory of the best playful and creative internet tools people love to share.

4 examples · 5 tools

A drawn archive page with category chips for games, generators, visualizers and nostalgia above a grid of six illustrated tool tiles, one tagged New this week, and a Submit a tool button

The idea

What it is

The problem

Someone finds a website on X where you poke a fish in a bag, sends it to 3 people, and a week later wants to show it to someone else. They search "fish poke website" and scroll their X likes for 10 minutes. They give up and describe it from memory instead.

Product Hunt mixes toys in with enterprise software and ranks them for one launch day. A week later the fish site is on page 6.

The product

Open the archive and pick a category: games, generators, visualizers or nostalgia. Each tool gets one line: what it does, who made it, a link. You find the fish site again, or something new to send.

Three things set it apart from the places these tools show up today.

  • Everything in one place, where neal.fun is just one person's work
  • Only playful and weird tools, so there is no business software to scroll past
  • A "new this week" email that gives people a reason to come back

The weekend version: one page of 50 tools from X, Reddit and Hacker News, plus a submit form.

Who pays

Buyer
A maker who just shipped something playful and wants it to be findable after its first day on X.
Price
Starting point: $5 to submit, Outbid.lol's minimum listing price, and $29 for a featured week.
Also pays
Developer tool brands, for one sponsored slot in the weekly email.

Why now

In late August 2026, Outbid.lol, a one-mechanic side project, passed 1M visitors and $200K in revenue within about a week of launch. AI coding tools make it possible to turn a toy idea into a working prototype by lunch. Micro SaaS Examples has featured a new fun internet tool in every weekly issue since Fish in a Bag on July 15.

How to validate it

  1. Collect 50 fun tools from X, Show HN and Product Hunt and post the list to r/InternetIsBeautiful. Pass: the post reaches 50 upvotes within 48 hours.
  2. Add a submit form and wait 2 weeks with no outreach. Pass: 3 or more makers submit a tool.
  3. Email 10 developer tool companies asking what they would pay for a weekly sponsored slot. Pass: 3 or more reply with a number.
  4. Send a weekly email of 5 new tools for 4 weeks. Pass: the open rate is above 35% in week 4.
